Surgical Workshops

Exposure to surgical techniques 

All HKU/CUHK medical students are welcome to join our Basic Surgical Workshop and no prior experience is required.  You will have the chance to try out a variety of suturing techniques like the Surgeon’s knot and interrupted sutures. Practicing under the supervision of invited surgeons, you will get feedback in real-time and truly master what you’ve learned.

Bond with practicing surgeons

Every year, we invite a number of esteemed surgeons with a wealth of expertise in their specialities as instructors. Participants will gain an overview of techniques commonly used in the operating room; as well as insights into how different suturing techniques are used in a clinical setting and in different procedures.

 Advanced Surgical workshop

All participants of the Basic Surgical Workshop are eligible to join the Advanced Surgical Workshop. Intermediate level techniques such as the subcuticular suture will be taught as an add-on to what was taught in the Basic Surgical Workshop. Participants will integrate their current skillsets in simulated situations like wound closing using real animal tissues.
