About Us
Founded in 2014, we are the only medical student surgical society in Hong Kong.
The Student Surgical Association of Hong Kong (SSAHK) is a student organisation jointly run by medical students from The University of Hong Kong and The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Surgery, being the most dexterous medical specialty, is the crux of SSAHK. We aim to broaden students’ horizons in different surgical specialties by connecting medical students from both medical schools and secondary school students with surgeons. Hoping to inspire more medical students to become aspiring surgeons, not only do we offer opportunities for them to learn from surgeons in a theory-based manner, we hold numerous events for students to be practically involved in simulative surgical work.
We hold a wide array of events for both medical students and secondary school students, ranging from Basic Suturing Workshops to Advanced Suturing Workshops, from Careers Nights to Surgical Taster Camp. Our events are diverse in nature but they all share one purpose - to introduce students to the realm of surgery.
We are affiliated with and kindly sponsored by the College of Surgeons of Hong Kong (CSHK), who have provided their continual support to SSAHK over the years in numerous ways.
Our Mission & Vision
Our vision is to inspire medical students to become the surgical leaders of tomorrow. By encouraging exposure to different surgical specialties, as well as through interactive surgical skills workshops, members and participants will gain knowledge, skills and insight into the practice of surgery. It is our hope that SSAHK will help them become empathetic surgeons that patients in Hong Kong deserve.
